Rugby Oregon's Red Hawks -- the high school all-star teams for young men and women -- are looking for fresh talent. Players who want to take their games to the next level are invited to join the organization's top coaches at a pair of skills and fitness camps in March and April. More than 50 aspiring Red Hawks took part in the season's first camp at Strasser Field in mid-February.

The camps are open to players of all levels, from rookie freshmen to experienced seniors who want to improve their games. Coaches will run game-based drills and activities intended to improve and reinforce core skills, decision-making, fitness and creativity. The camps will be held March 29 at Delta Park and April 20 at Tektronix, and will help players prepare to represent Oregon in the Great Northwest Challenge at Delta Park on June 21-22.

Coaches at the camps are among the best Oregon has to offer. They include professionals Troy Hall and Stew Magorian, veteran coaches Andy Edmundson,  Pete Leineweber, Greg Tracy, Ben Dubin, San Juanita Moreno (USA Eagle),  Sharon Blaney (USA Eagle) and Beckett Royce (USA Eagle).

Enthusiasm reigned after the mid-February camp. "Everyone seems to be on board," said Magorian. "All the players, coaching staff and helpers are really keen to be involved and make it work. A lot of raw talent combined with some experience will make it very interesting. I can't wait till the next sessions."
