Matt Eason to deliver CMO Course in Oregon

In an effort to support the development of referees in our area, Rugby Oregon will host a Coaching Match Officials Level One Course led by Matt Eason on February 15, 2014.  The purpose of this course is to introduce the concept and role of referee coaching to enable assistance and guidance to develop the referee.

Mr. Eason's impressive resume includes roles as iRB Judicial Officer (most recently for the 2013 USA vs NZ Maori and USA vs Ireland matches), iRB Appellate Officer and iRB Referee Educator.  He also serves as the USA Rugby National Referee-Coach Manager and a USA Rugby National Panel Referee Coach.  And tThis summer, he was one of four referee-coaches in Stellenbosch this for the iRB TOP Academy. 

Mr. Eason currently coaches Leah Berard, the USA’s number one female referee, and also considered in the top five female referees in the World.  Most notably, Ms. Berard refereed the Women’s 7’s World Cup final earlier this year, and has been assigned to the Six Nations this coming summer.   

Mr. Eason is also keenly familiar with issues specific to the youth as he currently runs a youth rugby program with 110+ kids between the ages of 7 and 14.

NOTE - Prerequisites for this course: Current USA Rugby membership, including registration as a referee and Level 1 Officiating certification or equivalent.  Also, at least three seasons of officiating experience and a desire to support other referees through the medium of coaching.

Requirements for Certification: Attend and participate in all course modules.

Course Location: West Linn High School, 8:30am - 4:00pm.
