At a time when American rugby is pushing its way into heightened awareness in this country and around the world, USA Rugby president Nigel Melville will visit Portland in February to lead a conversation about the coming Olympics, the national team, youth rugby, women's play and other subjects.

Melville, England's youngest-ever captain when he led the national side against in Australia in 1984, has led USA Rugby since 2006. He is leading the effort to shape the American team as it prepares to return to the 2016 Olympics for the first time since 1924.  

His appearance February 1 at a $50 hors d'oeuvres and drinks event is a fundraiser for Rugby Oregon, which promotes and operates youth and high school rugby leagues, camps and leadership events in Oregon and SW Washington.
