Stew Magorian, who played professional rugby in England and Italy and later served as an accomplished rugby development officer in Glasgow, has joined Rugby Oregon as its Rugby Development Officer. He will teach in schools, assist in coaching the Red Hawks high school all-star teams and work with youth leagues and camps.

His work for Rugby Oregon will be similar to the work he did at Glasgow University and at Glasgow's Whitecraigs Rugby Club, where he helped develop and nurture student rugby programs. In Glasgow, he also helped develop community rugby programs for underprivileged youth of all ages and abilities.

"It is a huge privilege to be involved with Rugby Oregon" said Magorian. "It's amazing to see the positive culture that exists here.  I'm really excited about what's happening and what's possible for the future."

"Stew's experience as a professional player and development officer makes it possible for us to offer additional quality programming in our existing rugby communities, while extending our reach into untapped areas," said Jenn Heinrich, Rugby Oregon's President and CEO. "His love of the game and passion for coaching young people are obvious."

Magorian's professional career included stints at Barrow (England) Rugby League Club and with professional clubs in Bologna and Treviso, Italy. While playing in Italy, he participated in Europe's Heineken Cup and competed in Italy's top division. He later played amateur rugby in Scotland and Australia.
