Congratulations to Newberg High School Rugby coaches, Rick Rogers and Lynne Tucker, on being recognized for their excellence in coaching at the 2017 Newberg High School's Athlete/Coach Awards Banquet. 

The evening saw two coaching awards given out.  Both awards were given to rugby coaches, a testament to the great work that Coach Rick and Coach Lynne are doing, as well as to the work being done within our rugby community.  Coach Rick was awarded the much coveted and prestigious 2017 Newberg High School Coach of the Year Award and Coach Lynne was the recipient of the National Federation of High School's Award of Excellence in coaching, which Coach Rick received in 2016.  

During the presentation, Newberg High School Principal, Kyle Laier, talked about the start of the program 10 years ago and it's evolution to full recognition as a high school sport at Newberg High School three years ago.  Coach Rick and Coach Lynne are quick to point out that had it not been for the support of the school's Athletic Director, Tim Burke, and the School District Administration and School Board, rugby would not be a sport at Newberg High School.  

We want to congratulate both Coach Rick and Coach Lynne and thank them for their tireless service to the growth and development of rugby in our community.
