Red Hawks All Stars

Dear Fellow Rugby Players and Coaches,

The Red Hawks Program has changed this year and is going towards a more player-centric model focusing on skills development, raising rugby IQ and physical preparation. We have a cadre of coaches, with experience of coaching all age grades and all positions, all over the world!  Drawing on this resource and adding to it from contacts from the rugby multiverse, we hope to improve your skills and the Red Hawks and perhaps put a marker down that rugby in Oregon is back and here to stay.  We also hope that it will help you in whatever rugby journey you choose to take.

In order to expand and develop your skill set and improve your understanding of the game, we are combining the HS Girls and HS Boys Programs as much as possible. This means you will have the most access possible to the coach with the expertise in your position.

At this point, we will welcome any and all players to come and try out. But, and it’s a big but, this is a high performance program and we will be making cuts of players that we believe don’t yet make the grade to step up to The Red Hawks, when it comes to game time!

Our scheduled events include matches for both HS Boys and HS Girls Red Hawks (unfortunately no Middle School Program this year.) These include friendly matches with the WA State “Loggers”, the USA Rugby National Development Program for our region, and the Washington Academy of Rugby. Additionally we have planned participation in the Can-Am 7’s Tournament and the Peace Arch 15’s Tournament in Bellingham, WA.

At this time, participation for the players is at no cost to them or their families. The mission for the Program is to foster player development for those players with the best potential to take their game to higher levels in the U16 and U19 age grades as well as to prepare them for play after High School at the next level. This should be only based on merit and not be dependent upon financial means; a weakness of the Program in the past.
